The Montana Tech Orediggers dominated the ice last night with a stunning 8-1 win over the Utah Valley University Wolverines at the Butte Community Ice Center. The Orediggers outshot the Wolverines by a staggering 72 to 30, clearly demonstrating their offensive prowess.

Despite the Wolverines’ 9 powerplay opportunities, they were unable to capitalize on any, whereas the Orediggers made full use of their 4 powerplays, scoring twice. This further underlines the Orediggers’ superior game strategy and execution.

Wolverines’ goalie Brayden Baxter had a tough night, facing 72 shots and managing to save 64. On the other end, Orediggers’ goalie Joe Rolfson had a relatively easy night, saving 29 out of the 30 shots he faced.

The only goal for the Wolverines came from Boston Vest (#88), while Luke Benoit (#3) of the Orediggers was instrumental in their victory, assisting in three of the eight goals.

Looking ahead, the Orediggers will face the Wolverines again at home on Saturday, Oct 11 at the Butte Community Ice Center. Given their spectacular performance last night, the Orediggers are clearly the team to beat. Wolverines will need to regroup and come up with a new strategy if they hope to stand a chance in the rematch.
