The Montana Tech Orediggers faced a tough challenge on Friday night, falling to the Montana State University Bobcats 15-1 at the Butte Community Ice Center. The Bobcats’ offensive onslaught proved too much for the Orediggers, with the visitors firing 78 shots on goal compared to Orediggers’ 24.
Bobcats’ goalie Richie Popson had a solid performance, facing 24 shots and making 23 saves. On the other side of the ice, Orediggers’ netminder Carson Burkart faced a barrage of shots, making 43 saves on 78 shots.
The Bobcats’ powerplay was effective, converting one out of their three opportunities. The Orediggers, however, were unable to capitalize on their four powerplay chances.
Bobcats’ #44, Spencer Wilkinson, was a standout performer, netting a hat trick. For the Orediggers, #21 Jack Delici provided the lone goal.
The Orediggers will be looking to bounce back in their next game, as they host Utah Valley University on Friday, October 10th at the Butte Community Ice Center. Despite the tough loss, the team remains focused and ready to improve their performance in the upcoming game.
